The epidemic of childhood obesity in the United §States and around the world has had a negative §impact on the health of the worlds children and §promises to have long-term health consequences. §Intervening on the epidemic before long-term health §damage is done promises to be an effective strategy §for curbing the long-term impact. Intervention with §children on this important health topic is an §important but complex issue and empirical evidence §from individual studies is conflicted. A meta-§analysis from 1990 provided insights into the §efficacy of interventions prior to that year. The §current meta-analysis provides a 15 year update to §the original meta-analysis. Changes in the §interventions tested are noted as are similarities §and differences between the effect sizes and §outcomes of each meta-analysis.
