Biohydrogen Technologies

The book provides a comprehensive technical overview of biohydrogen production, exploring biomass and biowaste conversion processes. It covers feedstock characterization, production methods, system integration, and hydrogen storage technologies. Key production pathways discussed include biological methods such as dark fermentation and microbial electrolysis, alongside thermochemical and electrochemical techniques. The book also examines reactor design, process optimization, and life cycle assessment approaches to evaluate scalability and sustainability. Furthermore, it addresses hydrogen storage technologies, applications in fuel cells and industrial processes, and the broader sustainability implications of biohydrogen systems. Key FeaturesProvides an extensive discussion of hydrogen production technologies. Discusses the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for the optimization of biohydrogen production systems. Includes a comparative overview of key biohydrogen-related regulations, mandates, policies, and roadmaps. Covers technical, environmental, and policy dimensions, including global financial incentives and carbon market mechanisms relevant to biohydrogen. Explores topics that are highly relevant to current sustainability goals and net-zero emission agendas. This book is intended for graduate students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of bioprocessing, renewable energy, and biohydrogen technologies.
