Commentaries on the Gallic War (De Bello Gallico) is Julius Caesar's firsthand account of his campaigns in Gaul from 58 to 50 BCE. Written in a clear, direct style-and notably in the third person-it describes how he subdued various Gallic tribes, navigated shifting alliances, and responded to uprisings, most famously the revolt led by Vercingetorix.
