Conversations With God

Most people spend their whole lives hoping God will talk to them.

Most people have never actually thought about what that would mean.

It means no sleep. It means no peace, no quiet, no moment inside your own head that belongs only to you. It means an endless, cheerful, unstoppable voice that knows things it shouldn't know, tells stories you didn't ask for, and is completely unbothered by the fact that you don't believe in it. It doesn't need you to believe in it. It just needs you to listen.

There are people who would consider this a blessing. This is not their story.

What happens when the universe decides to reach out to exactly the wrong person? Someone who has spent years loudly, confidently, and vocally explaining to anyone who would listen why none of this is real? Someone who has a job and a life and a very reasonable need to sleep at night and absolutely no interest in being chosen for anything?

What happens is not what anyone would expect. Not the person it's happening to. Not the people watching it happen. And certainly not the one doing the talking, who has been waiting a very long time for this conversation and is not going to let a little thing like mutual disbelief get in the way of it.

Conversations With God is about what we believe, what we refuse to believe, and what happens when the two come face to face in the worst possible moment for the worst possible person.

It's also about loneliness. The kind that crosses every boundary we thought existed.

And it ends in a way you will not see coming.
