This book is TIME visible in a photo pairing
Between One and Another (Hirmer) is 144 photographs from 25 countries, spanning five decades of travel by New York photographer David Katzenstein. Street photography, portraiture, and documentary work, including a pair of images of the same three women in Bhutan, taken twenty-six years apart.
Between One and Another (Hirmer) brings together 144 photographs from 25 countries, drawn from the archive of New York-based photographer David Katzenstein. Ranging across street photography, portraiture, and documentary work, and shot primarily on film with a Leica rangefinder, the book spans five decades of travel and encounter: from the sacred pilgrimage city of Touba in Senegal to the high valleys of Bhutan, from the streets of Port-au-Prince and Naples to parades and protests in New York. Throughout, Katzenstein's subject is people: in their homes and in public squares, at moments of celebration and quiet, alone and together.
