Anushka has a rough upbring. She suffers domestic abuse from her parents. All the while she is dreaming of the day she can gain her own independence. School holds the key to her future. She manages to put her home life to one side as she meets Simone at school. Together they work hard but all the while the abuse is still happening at home. As she grows up we see how she overcomes many issues some old and new. She is helped by her friends Simone and Tara. Life is never simple as she is suddenly faced with all the independence she ever dreamed but did not account for the responsibility that comes with it. She learns to talk to others about her issues and does not allow things to fester inside of her. She faces some pretty awful moments but as she gains more experience she is able to help others and recognise the signs of abuse.
