Feeling It All

A woman plans a surprise for her tenth anniversary. A young man boards a ship in 1939 with a worn leather suitcase, unable to look his parents in the eye. An old woman pauses before the rocking chair that has been hers all her life. An immigrant far from his family mixes drinks in a Brooklyn pub, drinks he doesn't yet know by heart.

Through stories, intimate letters, and pieces that are almost poems, this book speaks of love and farewells, of what time takes away and what, sometimes, it gives back. There are roses, suitcases, letters someone reads again, and a perfume kept at the back of a drawer. And there is humor: a husband who comes home on just another night, a fool who baffles everyone, an early riser who sees from his window what no one was meant to see.

In an intimate voice that looks at the everyday until it finds what no one sees, María Marta Gutiérrez invites you to open these pages and let yourself be carried away.

Feeling It All is the first collection of stories by María Marta Gutiérrez, a journalist, theater teacher, and writer born in Buenos Aires who lives in New York.
