Josh Anvil and the Cypress Door

Josh Anvil and the Cypress Door by Bruce E. Arrington is an action-packed YA urban fantasy where a teenage boy's stories literally come to life.

What Would You Do With Limitless Power?

Fourteen-year-old Josh Anvil is an ordinary kid dealing with severe dyslexia and a family crisis after a devastating arson attack. Everything changes during a routine canoe trip through the Louisiana bayou. After a bizarre, reality-shifting event in the swamp, Josh discovers he has gained an unbelievable, dangerous gift: whatever story he tells becomes reality.

Spinning a yarn about ancient local spiders? They instantly crawl out of the shadows. Describing a mythical beast to his high school StoryTellers Club? A living, breathing dragon suddenly appears. Along with the ability to conjure floating islands, Josh also wields the miraculous power to heal the sick.

But limitless power attracts lethal attention. As mysterious arson fires sweep across Baton Rouge, Josh's jaw-dropping abilities quickly draw the eyes of the media, the FBI, and shadowy forces who want to exploit him. Now a reluctant hero, Josh must navigate high school bullies, federal kidnappers, and a mysterious entity out to kill him-all while figuring out how to control a power that could reshape the world.
