Eddie Luke's nightmares won't stop. Purple skies. War machines. A voice that whispers, "Found you."

Then reality starts breaking down. Campus feels wrong. People move in strange synchronization. One night, a rift tears open in the arboretum. It shows another world before sealing shut.

Eddie and Mya see it. Mya digs into folklore patterns. She studies why every culture tells the same stories about doorways, creatures with impossible powers, and people who vanish and return changed. After two days of research, she knows the patterns are too consistent to be coincidence.

When the rift opens again, Eddie goes through alone. He returns describing exactly what Mya predicted. The stories are real.

Now Eddie, Mya, and Liam step through together. The portal seals behind them.

They are stranded on Haytar. It is a world of glowing forests and ancient ruins left by the Keys, the civilization that built the portals. The Keys connected dozens of worlds and united alien species across dimensions. Three thousand years ago, a war buried entire planets.

With Loath, a Haytarian scout, and PIP, a failing robot holding fragments of what destroyed everything, they must survive long enough to find another way home.

But Eddie's nightmares are memories of the Key Wars. The thing that ended them knows he is here.
