This volume features the proceeding of the "Sustainable Energy in the Built Environment - Nearly Zero Energy Communities " conference held in Brasov, Romania, in 2017. It focuses on the challenges of implementing novel R&D results to develop solutions for the future sustainable communities. The "sustainable community" topic has recently emerged as a possible efficient and affordable answer to the major threats of global warming.
