Soora Samharam

A boy god, a golden spear, and a very big job.

Long ago, three proud asura brothers asked Lord Shiva for great powers, and then began to bully the gentle devas. Only a child born from Shiva's own light could stop them. This is the story of Murugan and the shining Vel, the spear of wisdom.

In this full-colour comic story, your child will:
• Follow Murugan from six sparks of light to the brave leader of the devas' army
• Meet Veerabahu, the loyal messenger who offers peace before the fight
• See the battles told gently, with light and sparks, never harm
• Say a short Murugan prayer with easy pronunciation help
• Explore the Six Homes of Murugan on a map of Tamil Nadu
• Learn about pride, peace, friendship and bravery
• Test what they remember with a word box and a quiz

Why parents love it: Simple words, bright 3D-style pictures, speech bubbles and short captions make this a great read-aloud for ages 5 and up. A "Meet the Heroes" page introduces the characters, and a note for grown-ups explains where the story comes from. Perfect for bedtime, for Skanda Sashti, or as a gift that connects children with their Tamil and South Indian heritage.

A new retelling in simple words for children, by Navygan, who also wrote Hanuman Chalisa for Kids & Beginners.
