Sophia and Alex Play at Home

"Sophia and Alex Play at Home" is one of eleven volumes in the "Sophia and Alex" series, written by author Denise Bourgeois-Vance and illustrated by artist Damon Danielson. The storyline takes the reader to the home of fraternal twins Sophia and Alex. It opens with the children playing at home on a Saturday morning. Friends they met in school are invited over for a play date. Each child learns the rules and preferred behavior as the children interact with one another for a fun day at home. By the end of the day, Sophia and Alex are found enjoying family time with their parents and siblings.

The 32-page illustrated book shows the children engaged in fun activities, sharing, interacting, pretending, and playing throughout the day. Children learn social and communitive skills while engaging in casual interaction with friends and family.

Each book in the "Sophia and Alex" series draws on storylines based on common events found in the life of an early learner. Children relate to the multi-cultural characters and learn the art of acceptance and inclusion in school and home settings. Through the use of dual text, a child can simultaneously learn to read in Armenian or English while better expressing themselves in each. Studies prove that bilingual children are more apt to excel in writing and reading in subsequent grades when given the tools at an early age.

At the time of this printing, over 20 languages have been offered through Children Bilingual Books. Parents and grandparents alike cherish the opportunity to connect with their child through reading.
