THE MIRROR

The phrase "for the child we all carry within us" is, without adoubt, terribly overused and, if the kind reader will allow me to say so, perhaps even a little banal, boring, and downright corny. Still, I had no choice but to include it in this brief introduction-because I must confess, I cannot stand long, tedious introductions-but not without first offering my apologies for resorting to it and, of course, welcoming in advance any constructive criticism, always in the best
possible spirit.

The truth is, my excessive optimism leads me to believe that I am on the right track. So much so that I am completely certain that anyone willing to read this book will, in one way or another and to a greater or lesser degree, eventually see something of themselves in Jimmy, the hero without a cape in this story. Because Jimmy could very well be you. He could even be me. In truth, Jimmy could be all of us. Was your childhood really untouched by imagination and
creativity? Didn't your younger years ever make you dream with your eyes wide open, allowing your thoughts to drift toward the sky, filled with fantasy? Who among us never dreamed of being inside a rocket, traveling through outer space? Or imagined being the captain of a submarine, battling monsters in the depths of the ocean?
And what about those times when we pictured ourselves as police officers or firefighters, facing danger to save the world and becoming, even if only for a few moments, true heroes?
