The Princess Who Borrowed the Moon's Last Feather

Princess Lyra Hawthorne has spent her life believing that her royal family was chosen to protect the kingdom. But when her father, King Elias, begins mysteriously turning to stone and the land itself starts to rot, she discovers that the crisis is connected to a terrible secret buried beneath the history of her bloodline. Her father leaves behind a single clue-"Lunar Peak. Find." Lyra becomes convinced that the legendary Silver Feather, a fragment of the moon said to possess the power to heal curses, may be the only thing capable of saving him.To reach the forbidden mountain, Lyra frees Corvin, a cynical thief imprisoned beneath the palace. He possesses forbidden knowledge of the Shadow Paths and has apparently survived the Lunar Peak before. Yet Corvin quickly reveals that he has his own reasons for helping her. The Silver Feather cannot reveal itself to its Keeper alone-it requires a seeker descended from the very bloodline responsible for the kingdom's ancient crime. Lyra is not simply the hero of the journey; she is part of the price. As they climb, Lyra discovers the truth behind the so-called Gift of Light. Centuries earlier, the Hawthorne dynasty stole a fragment of the moon and imprisoned its light, using it to create a kingdom that could prosper while the surrounding lands suffered. The rot consuming the kingdom is therefore not a disease but an ancient debt finally being collected. The Silver Feather was never intended to restore the stolen power-it exists to undo it.At the summit, Lyra meets Arabella Kingsley, the mysterious Hermit of the Lunar Peak. Arabella explains that the Feather is not a tool for returning the kingdom to its former glory. It is an instrument of unmaking, capable of ending the cycle created by Lyra's ancestors. To use it correctly, Lyra must accept that saving her father may mean destroying the world he ruled. The situation becomes even more dangerous when Lyra learns that Chancellor Graham Westwood has manipulated the crisis from the beginning. He does not want to heal King Elias. He intends to seize the Feather, imprison Lyra, and use the moon's power to create an eternal kingdom without sunset-one where he can rule indefinitely. Zane Mercer and his mercenaries are already climbing toward the summit to take the relic by force.Lyra is therefore forced to choose between two forms of tyranny: preserving her family's stolen legacy or allowing Graham to inherit it. Instead, she accepts the deeper truth of her bloodline. She is willing to become the final Hawthorne ruler if that is what it takes to repay the ancient debt and return the moon's stolen light.
