The Shady Pines Chronicles

THE SHADY PINES CHRONICLES
Volume One: Training Wheels and Tactical Absurdity

Welcome to Shady Pines. The monsters are real. They're also the neighbors.

For twenty-five years, the residents of a hidden mountain town have kept an impossible secret.

Vampires. Werewolves. Warlocks. Ghouls. Things considerably harder to classify.

They have spent decades maintaining an elaborate conspiracy to give Johnny Huntsman something none of them thought they would ever be responsible for: a normal childhood.

There's just one problem.

Johnny isn't normal.

Born carrying the spark of something ancient enough to make monsters nervous, Johnny has been raised to believe the world is fundamentally good, heroes always win, and the strange things happening around Shady Pines have perfectly reasonable explanations.

The town intends to keep it that way.

So when the wards protecting Shady Pines begin to fail, supernatural threats start slipping through, and forces outside the valley edge closer to discovering what the residents have hidden, an entire community of ancient predators must do the unthinkable:

Protect the kid.

Preferably without letting him realize he needs protecting.

The Shady Pines Chronicles: Volume One - Training Wheels and Tactical Absurdity blends supernatural adventure, cosmic horror, dark comedy, action, and found family into a story about monsters discovering that the most powerful thing they can defend may be one boy's belief that the world is worth saving.

Because in Shady Pines, saving reality is difficult.

Doing it without ruining Johnny's childhood is considerably harder.
