MOROCRACY

Why do incompetent people so often rise to the top - and why do the competent so often fall silent? Morocracy names a system in which power detaches from ability: where loyalty outweighs merit, conformity displaces judgement, and the mediocre are not merely tolerated but actively rewarded.

Drawing on the cultural, institutional and epistemological roots of this drift, the book traces how professional standards collapse, capable individuals are marginalised or silenced, and public trust quietly erodes.

The result is a peculiar kind of stagnation - visible in the public sector, universities and corporations alike - in which advancement depends less on what one knows than on whom one obeys.

Morocracy is a diagnosis and a provocation: a defence of competence, responsibility and institutional reason against the slow, almost imperceptible normalisation of decline.
